Disposing of waste vegetable oil can be a real pain for food outlet owners, we take that pain away and in many cases offer you cash for the privilege. We collect oil from all over the country and always at your convenience. we have associates in every major city and can arrange regular collection and payment on collection or on a monthly basis.
Vegetable oil is a recyclable material and is usually converted in to bio diesel or fuel for heating. We pride ourselves in our service to you (the restaurant/food outlet owner) and make every effort to help you profit from your waste oil

In this example the guidelines are based on converting 1 litre of fresh vegetable oil. This is simply to describe the process, to make biodiesel in larger volumes you’d simply increase the chemicals used in proportion to the increase in vegetable oil. Information on converting used oil will follow this post.
You will need:
200 ml of methanol, 99+% pure
5.3g potassium hydroxide (KOH)
blender or preferably a mini-processor
half-litre translucent white HDPE container with screw-on cap
2 funnels to fit the HDPE container,
2 2-litre soft-drinks bottle
duct tape or electrical tape
Start the process by making Methoxide. Pour the Methanol into the HDPE container (using a funnel), now use the other funnel and pour in the potassium hydroxide. Shake the container and swirl it around until all the potassium hydroxide has dissolved.
Now heat the vegetable oil to 55 deg C and pour it into the blender. Add the Methoxide secure the lid and leave the blender to run on a low speed for 20 minutes. Once the mixing is complete pour the liquid from the blender into one of the 2-litre bottles and leave it to settle for 12-24h hours. As it cools it will contract so you may need to open the container to let more air in.
Once the liquid has settled you will see a clear separation between the glycerine (at the bottom) and the biodiesel (at the top). You are now ready to wash the Biodiesel. Pierce a small 2mm hole in the bottom corner of your clean 2-litre soft-drink bottle and place the duct tape or electrical tape securely over the hole. Decant the top layer (the biodiesel) in to this bottle and add half a litre of clean tap water. Gently stir the bottle or secure the lid and roll it on a table or on the floor for 5-10 minutes and then leave it to settle for 30 minutes. The water will wash the diesel and as it settles the water will collect at the bottom of the bottle. To remove the water simply lift the tape on the bottle and allow the water to flow out. Repeat this process 3-5 times until the water looks clean after settling.
You are now ready to dry the oil. If you’re in no rush simply leave the biodiesel in the container with the lid off and after a few days it will appear clear and is ready for use. If you are in a rush heat it gently to 48 deg C and allow to cool, this evaporates the remaining water, so let it ventilate
My project has a section on awareness… so I need some ideas because google hasn’t been much help
PLEASE GIVE ACCURATE ANSWERS IF POSSIBLE ! THANK
YOU !
Hiya,
I was just generally wondering, if something non-recyclable was put into a recycling bag, what would happen to that whole bag of recycling? Would the whole bag be put into a normal rubbish bin? Or would the whole bag still be recycled regardless or would the bad item be fished out?
Thank you!
Katie.
Do biodiesel & ethanol fuels have any impact on greenhouse gas production? And if so, please explain.
Does the converting of animal fat into gasoline have any impact either?
each time I put some trash labelled as "recycle" (like papers, plastic bottles, etc..) in the recycling bags, I wonder how the stuff is actually separated and recycled? Is that a manual sorting??? If not, how is the process automated?
I have a T-mobile Compact 4 and have just upgraded to the new G2 phone. There was a recycling envelope with my new phone but it doesn’t tell me how much I might get, or how long it might take! Any ideas and is there a better deal for recycling phones on the internet?
Please could someone tell me if there is one, what is the risk to the environment from recycling.
Recycling is supposed to be the green, environmentally friendly option, but is it really?
Huge fume belching and gas guzzling lorries are used to transport your recycling material from your door to the recycling place.
Hundreds of cars drive every week to their recycling centre, usually with only one person in the car and a box of only half a dozen wine bottles and a few newspapers.
The waste processing plants have lots of heavy machinery which all requires greedy amounts of power.
Some recycling procedures, such as glass and plastic require huge amounts of heat to melt the materials before they can be re-moulded.
All of these things consume vast amounts of our planets natural resources.
But do they consume more or less than they save?
Has there ever been an official study into this?

Firstly, Don’t brand me as an anti-environmentalist. I am simply asking a question to poll peoples opinions. It’s not as if I am not burning down woodlands and pouring bleach into rivers.
Secondly, Don’t assume I am American. I posted this in Yahoo UK & Ireland Answers.
